CTSGNA's Purpose
The purpose of CTSGNA is to bring the benefits of national membership to SGNA members at the local level:
- To unite in one Regional Society persons, licensed and unlicensed, engaged in any capacity in the fields of gastroenterology.
- To encourage and develop educational programs for persons in such fields;
- To advance the technology, science and arts of practitioners in such fields;
- To advocate optimal care for patients with digestive disease and those undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures;
- To cooperate with other professional societies, corporations and governmental bodies involved in such fields.
CTSGNA's Organizational Structure and Positions:
CTSGNA Elected Positions:
- President serves a one year term
- President Elect voted for yearly
- Secretary voted for every two years (odd year)
- Treasurer voted every two years (even year)
- Past President (one year)
- Nominations and Elections 2 people every year
- Board members total of four 2 elected (every year)
President:
- Be a member of CTSGNA
- Registered nurse, CGRN certified - preferred
- Serve as liaison between ABCGN and National SGNA
- Represents the Regional Society Board Members and the Regional Society
- Presides at all meetings of the Regional Society and of the Regional Society Board meetings
- Approve all non-elective committee chairs and members with the approval of the Regional Society Board Members
- Attends six CTSGNA meetings (1.5 hour each)
- Attends Fall Conference (8 hours)
- Attends National SGNA conference (4 days)
- Facilitates Regional Board meetings usually via conference (one hour) at least 4 year
- Facilitates new board member orientation (one hour)
- Attends Beyond the Scope Planning Meetings (7 one hour) via conference call
- Shall be responsible for notification of officers and board members board meeting
President-Elect:
- Shall be a member of CTSGNA
- Registered nurse, CGRN certified - preferred
- Becomes President when the Regional Society President’s term ends
- Become acting Regional Society President and assume the duties of the office in the event President’s absence, disability, or resignation
- Serve as an advisory member on Regional Society standing and special committees
- Perform such duties as may be delegated by The Regional Society President
- Attends and Coordinate all State Meetings with Hosting Facilities
- Attends Fall Conference (8 hours)
- Attends National SGNA conference (4 days)
- Attends Regional Board meetings usually via conference (one hour) at least 4 year
- Attends new board member orientation (one hour)
- Attends Beyond the Scope Planning Meetings (7 one hour) via conference call
Secretary:
- Current member of CTSGNA
- Shall, record or cause to be recorded the minutes of all meetings of the Regional Society the Society Board Meetings
- Shall, preserve correspondence, reports, records, Bylaws, and the Policy and Procedure Manual of the Regional Society in a permanent f
- Attends six CTSGNA meetings (1.5 hour each)
- Attends Fall Conference (8 hours)
- Attends Regional Board meetings usually via conference (one hour) at least 4 year, takes minutes
- Attends new board member orientation (one hour), takes minutes
- Attends Beyond the Scope Planning Meetings (7 one hour) via conference call, takes minutes
Treasurer:
- Current member of CTSGNA
- Be responsible for the funds of the Regional Society
- Shall, be bonded, the cost to be borne by the Regional Society
- Shall, keep an accurate record of all Regional Society receipts and disbursements
- Assist in the direction of all financial affairs and sign checks of the Regional Society
- Present financial reports to the Regional Society Board Members as requested
- Present an annual report to the Regional Society members at the annual membership meeting
- Serve as Chair of the Regional Society Budget & Finance Committee
- Attends six CTSGNA meetings (1.5 hour each)
- Attends Fall Conference (10 hours)
- Attends Regional Board meetings usually via conference (one hour) at least 4 year
- Attends new board member orientation (one hour)
- Attends Beyond the Scope Planning Meetings (7 one hour) via conference
Immediate Past President:
- Be a member of CTSGNA
- Registered nurse, CGRN certified – preferred
- Attends six CTSGNA meetings (1.5 hour each)
- Attends Fall Conference (8 hours)
- Attends Regional Board meetings usually via conference (one hour) at least 4 year
- Attends new board member orientation (one hour)
- Attends Beyond the Scope Planning Meetings (7 one hour) via conference
- Facilitates CTSGNA scholarships
- Facilitates CTSGNA CT Nurse of Year
- Oversee the Nominations & Elections Committee
Board Members:
- Current member of CTSGNA
- The Board Members shall have the authority and perform such duties in the management of the Regional Society
- Attends six CTSGNA meetings (1.5 hour each)
- Attends Fall Conference (8 hours)
- Attends Regional Board meetings usually via conference (one hour) at least 4 year
- Attends new board member orientation (one hour)
- May attend/ participate in Beyond the Scope Planning Meetings (7 one hour) via conference call
Nominations & Elections Committees:
- Current member of CTSGNA
- Attends six CTSGNA meetings (1.5 hour each)
- Attends Fall Conference (8 hours)
- Has three conference calls for Elections, June, Sept., Nov. (one hour)
- Identifies potential nominees and encourages members to apply.
